Harbourside forests hit by disease
Disease has hit Sydney Harbour's signature salmon-coloured angophoras, devastating the
trees in a number of suburbs.
The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that up to 70 per cent of the trees located
on Cremorne Point are suffering from the unidentified disease, causing dieback.
Other affected areas include Seaforth, Gore Cove, bushland surrounding Taronga Zoo
and Balls Head Reserve.
The Herald reported that angophoras appeared to be the only species affected by the
disease, which kills by causing infected trees to virtually starve.
