SA: Flying Doctor pilot killed in plane crash
A Royal Flying Doctor Service plane has crashed into pine trees in South Australia,
killing the pilot and seriously injuring a passenger.
The Country Fire Service says the plane crashed at an area known as Dismal Swamp, about
15 km north of Mount Gambier, at 11.45 pm (CDT) yesterday.
The plane crashed into pine trees within five kilometres of its destination, Mount
Gambier airport in the state's south-east.
Police say the male pilot died in the crash and the 34-year-old passenger is in hospital.
The King Air Beechcraft 200 had flown from Port Augusta in the state's north to collect
a six-year-old boy, who need to be taken to Sydney for treatment.
Royal Flying Doctor Service spokesman OLLIE KRATOUNIS has told ABC radio that services
will be maintained despite the crash.
